Let’s be honest, 99% of the time I’m usually in athleisure apparel aka work out clothes. It’s comfortable, you can sweat in it, it’s easily cleaned, it looks good, it’s movable, you can work out in it and also do your day to day while looking fashionable. It’s everything an on-the-go type of person needs, and believe me, I’m ALWAYS on the go. Plus whenever I put on something nice, my kids either wipe their snot all over it, or the baby spits up on me, or my toddler uses me as a napkin. So unless I have my sitter, “something nice” is just not practical for my day to day.

Most of my athleisure wardrobe is lululemon and I love finding new brands to try, but I just always end up going back to my Lulu. I’m just feel like they have the whole athleisure thing down pat. Regardless of what type of brand you wear, there are 5 work out staples that every woman should own.

  1. Colorful or Patterned Sports Bras

This is a perfect way to add a little bit of contrast to your average look. Plus when you’re running around all day, sport bras are the most comfortable thing to wear so adding a little pop of color to a typical look really adds to the style. If you are not into the bright colors, a cool black and/or white pattern goes a long way to jazz up your typical look.

  2. Light Weight Layers

Whenever I first arrive to the gym or go outside for a run, I’m cold. Having something that is easy to transition in different temperatures is a must. Pick pieces that are comfortable, easy to take off or put on, and something that will get a lot of wear. The above picture is a Lululemon sweater that is so versatile. I throw it on when I go to the gym, or when I’m entering a cold grocery store. I also love wearing it with jeans for a casual but chic look. It’s a little pricey, but it will get so much wear that it’s worth it.

  3. The Comfortable Shirt

Depending on your work out, you may prefer a tight fitting shirt verse a loose fitting shirt. I use to only wear tight fitting shirts, but my body changed with having babies and I have been so many different sizes since then that I started buying the loose fitting shirts too… and I’m obsessed. It’s so airy and comfortable and when it’s hot it feels like you are wearing nothing. Now that I’m back down to my normal size, I switch back and forth between my tight shirts and my loose shirts, depending the look I’m going for, but I’m very happy to now have both.

  4. Cropped Leggings

I have so many leggings, but cropped leggings are the ones I tend to gravitate towards and wear seasonally. They are just so comfortable and make you look & feel great. I also always grab them when I’m out running around doing errands. I have them in all different styles and colors but the ones that I wear 90% of the time are my classic black Lululemon’s.

  5. Sneakers

I’m just starting to get in on the sneaker trend. I normally would only wear heals or flats when I was out and about, but then babies came along, and that quickly changed. Now I’m realizing how many options of cool kicks are out there. You don’t have to just have boring big ole white shoes anymore. I love a good sneaker that has a pop of color, but also make sure they are comfortable and safe with your type of work out. I specifically have running sneakers that are great for working out, but I also have the really cute sneakers that I wear around town when I’m running errands.
